Building the Future: Harnessing Adaptability and Resilience in the Energy Workforce

“Heat-related Texas deaths climb after Beryl knocked out power to millions.” That was the headline the other day in USA Today. There are similar stories across the country and around the world.

The challenges are only getting bigger. Humanity needs to step up efforts to develop solutions and keep our societies functioning. That takes the most important natural resource of all: people—human capital.

To build the Energy Workforce of the Future to achieve all this, we must draw together the proverbial “best and brightest.” We also need to focus on adaptability. The energy sector needs people with top-notch AQ.  Adaptation is a huge part of the energy transition.

The BBC explains that the “adaptability quotient” is “a subjective set of qualities loosely defined as the ability to pivot and flourish in an environment of fast and frequent change.”

The organization Peak Learning, meanwhile, uses the same acronym to refer to “adversity quotient,” a method “for measuring and strengthening human resilience.” The group is led by best-selling author Paul Stoltz, who also directs the Global Resilience and GRIT Institutes.

As you may know, ALLY Energy is all about GRIT. The extended deadline for our annual GRIT Awards is almost up, so get in those nominations fast!
