Global Energy Leaders are Coming Together to Run the TCS NYC Marathon, Signaling a Commitment to a Net-Zero Future
In an exceptional show of solidarity and commitment to combating climate change, more than 40 executives and entrepreneurs from the global energy sector will come together to run the TCS New York City Marathon on November 5, 2023. Representing an array of companies and organizations, the team, named “Women & Allies in Energy,” showcases the diversity within the energy and climate community.
The Women & Allies in Energy team includes more than 40 executives and entrepreneurs from the diverse energy and climate community. They represent companies and organizations large and small, and their work focuses on many different forms of energy – from renewables like wind and solar to geothermal and nuclear, as well as traditional oil and gas companies that are increasing their investments into cleaner, greener energy technologies.
Motivated by the motto “running toward net zero,” the Women & Allies in Energy team is raising money for the Energy Project, which works with high school students to develop innovative alternative energy technologies to be implemented locally through youth activism. In 2024, the Allies in Energy will further host other activities to raise awareness including Houston & Energy Climate Week with over 30+ partners to celebrate the city's contribution to the energy transition.
To celebrate these efforts, ALLY Energy is hosting Energy Human Capital Markets Day on Friday, October 3 with the team, and distinguished guests from the energy and climate tech industry and will ring the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange.
“The energy transition, like a marathon, is a test of resilience. It demands us to face challenges, to adapt, and to keep pushing forward. We need to embrace new technologies, find viable solutions, and make significant investments - all while ensuring affordability and reliability,” says ALLY Energy CEO Katie Mehnert.
TCS is one of the world’s largest technology and consulting companies, in addition to serving as the title and technology partner for the TCS New York City Marathon and a co-founder of the Women & Allies in Energy Team. TCS has partnered with energy companies for more than two decades, providing technology solutions across the value chain, and is committed to helping them accelerate their journey toward net zero.
“At the TCS New York City Marathon, sports and technology come together to transform lives and communities. To reach the iconic finish line in Central Park, runners must set goals and train rigorously. In the same way, we can create a cleaner, more sustainable future by setting goals, measuring our progress, and developing new technologies. I’m inspired by this team as they lead by example,” says Amit Bajaj, President, TCS North America.
Worley, also a team sponsor, is a global provider of professional services in the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors.
“Much like the stamina, persistence, and incremental progress required to cross the finish line of a marathon, the path toward energy transition is an endurance race, not a sprint. It requires long-term commitment, strategic planning, and the courage to overcome barriers along the way,” says Geeta Thakorlal, Executive Group Director, Worley.
