The Field Safety Advisor will be part of our Permian EHS team; which is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of safety programs and processes for our Permian operations. The Field Safety Advisor will have regular interaction with operational personnel and leadership. Production, Construction, and Facilities operations will be the primary focus area for the position with ancillary responsibilities to support Drilling and Completions operations.
The Field Safety Advisor is expected to fully integrate with our operations teams. This position will report to the Permian Safety Manager. The position is based in Midland, Texas and will require more than 50% of work schedule to be completed in a field environment to ensure adequate support of assigned operational function.
This position requires a self-motivated, hard-working team player who pays attention to details. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate that he or she can take ownership of the job responsibilities and hold themselves accountable for their successful completion.
Plans, coordinates and implements programs and processes to reduce and eliminate injuries, illnesses, environmental damage, and financial losses while maintaining regulatory compliance and company standards.Schedule planned visits to production, construction, and facilities sites for regular inspections, assessments and audits to align with Company expectations.Provide support and guidance on incident response to ensure personal safety is the top priority.Oversee, coordinate, and conduct incident and compliance investigations, causal analyses, incident reviews, development of corrective actions and dissemination of lessons learned.Provide guidance and support to operational leadership with regard to implementation of the EH&S policies and programs.Coordinate and/or conduct safety training for Ovintiv employees and contractors.Provide oversight of Contractor Management Program for assigned function to include contractor orientations, audits, inspection of field operations, Contractor Roundtable meetings, and Contractor Expectation and Alignment meetingsLead bridging exercises to ensure contractor safety alignment and compliance.Serve as a liaison for field operations leaders and contract service companies.Provide technical support for initiatives related to simultaneous operations. Coordinate emergency response training, planning and implementation of drills and response for assigned operational function.Participate in the development and implementation of company programs, strategies, procedures, systems and other tools to assure EH&S compliance.Provide technical advice to EH&S leadership regarding safety programs and processes.Partner with Security & Emergency Management, Environmental and Regulatory teams to assure compliance initiatives are implemented effectively.Available to respond to incidents off hours.
B.S. in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering/Science or a closely related field of study; or Five (5) or more years of professional safety experience.Prior experience supporting exploration and production operations desired but not required.Professional certification (CSP, CIH, OHST, CHMM) or have ability and commitment to achieve certification within a defined timeline upon employment preferred.Working knowledge of technical safety regulatory programs.Knowledge of upstream oil and gas production operations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking.Experienced with implementing safety leadership concepts.Strong strategic/critical thinking ability.Extensive experience using computer programs of various brands.Proactively influence and coach leadership and peers.Highly organized.Previous experience with compliance-related software programs.Detail and quality control oriented.Effectively work in a team environment.Resolve conflict without external intervention.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.Deliver timely work products. Self-directed and manage time efficiently under minimal supervision.Experience with high hazard safety programs such as LOTO, confined space and hot work, a plus.This is a safety sensitive position and will require additional screening.
