Ovintiv’s Williston Basin Operations Team is seeking an LDAR Technician to work out of the field and office in Arnegard, ND.  We provide our employees with a variety of career growth opportunities and programs that recognize, and reward demonstrated results. 

An LDAR Operator is primarily responsible for operating IR camera doing leak detection surveys, and subsequently performing maintenance, overseeing repairs and equipment replacements as necessary to correct identified leaks.

LDAR Operator tasks include the documentation survey findings, the generation of repair orders, verifying with instruments that the repair was successful, and the closure of completed repair orders. When feasible, LDAR will relief operate for Lease Operators on vacation days off.


Utilize IR Camera to conduct leak detection surveys.Properly calibrates and maintains all monitoring equipment.Perform daily operational checks of survey equipment.Upload & download data loggers using assigned computer systems.Properly execute and audit the inspection process in accordance with the written monitoring plan.Properly document all pertinent survey results and generate repair tickets utilizing a computer tablet system.Perform troubleshooting and emergency data recovery when needed.Conduct first attempt repairs on leaking equipment and use survey equipment to validate repair success.Coordinate with maintenance teams and operations projects coordinator when additional repair actions are required.Abide by all Ovintiv health, environmental and safety programs and policies in performance of duties.Communicate any unsafe or environmentally dangerous issues immediately to operations personnel and site supervisor.Track and modify asset data in Asset Panda software as it relates to flare/vent management.Attend and support Ovintiv SER (Safety/environmental/regulatory) inspections.Attend and promote all required training programs.Assist others within (and occasionally outside) the Operations Department as assigned or needed.Perform and report on periodic AVO (auditory/visual/olfactory) inspections.Perform and report on scheduled SPCC (spill prevention control countermeasures) inspections.Assist in agency audits (Environmental and Safety).


High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum of three years of field operations work experience required. Ideally, engineering technologist related post-secondary education. General knowledge of safe oil and gas production operations. Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications.Must have a clean driving record. Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to drive a company vehicle. Must be able to perform simple mathematic calculations, have good mechanical aptitude, and clear writing skills. Good communication skills. Team player. Knowledge of safety requirements and practices. Willing to accept responsibility and accountability. Will reside in the Watford City area or reasonable distance from the field office. Job consists of a 10 hour day, 4 days on, 3 days off. However, infrequent circumstances may require after hours or weekend work.Good understanding of natural gas engines, pumping units and production equipment.
