A unique opportunity to develop the communications strategy and manage all content needs for one of the largest STEM projects in the world. 

You will be the Shell Eco-marathon (SEM) content strategist everyone will be listening to. You will know more about the SEM audience than anyone else.

Where you fit in

SEM is a unique academic program that challenges students around the world to design, build and drive the most energy-efficient car. 

Over the last 36 years it has become one of world leading STEM programs for energy efficiency and a Shell brand marquee event.

Once described as “Shell best kept secret” a few years ago it started to have significant external impact and visibility.

The ambition of this role is to develop and manage the communications strategy for SEM that will map all content needs across all touch points.

You will be working closely with those that create the content by developing the right briefings, by generating the right insights and by looking at the results and understanding what can be improved.

You will create and measure the performance of the SEM eco-system of content, articulating that universe of touch points in line with our audience expectations and our own ambitions. 

You will be on top of all the latest trends and media consumption habits of Gen Z. so that we deliver on their expectations of novelty and continuous innovation.

You will be based in Manila – Philippines and you are expected to work in the CET time zone.  

You will work closely with our colleagues that manage all the technical and marketing aspects of SEM.

What is the role

Development and implementation of a communications strategy for SEM. 

Develop an annual SEM content calendar and identify key content themes.

Define objectives, channels, audience, measurement of KPI’s, content needed, content opportunities, synergies with other communication initiatives.

Manage and register all activities in the Content Management Platform.

Define the role of the own channels used and manage their performance indicators.

Generate insights from multiple sources of data (e.g. social media listening, community management).

Overall management of www.makethefuture.shell as the virtual shop window of SEM globally in all its content streams.

Drive the SEM merchandising development plans

Align and articulate activities with other Shell communication streams and 3rd parties.

Leverage #MakeTheFuture communications platform.

What we need from you

We need your passion and curiosity to inspire and motivate all your multiple interfaces and audiences.

We need your strategic thinking and rigor of analysis to drive your long-term decisions and vision.

You need to have a solid experience on the development, management and implementation of brand strategies. 

Great knowledge and experience with digital, social media, gaming and sponsorships. 

Your ability to influence and deliver through others will be a key success factor.

Project management and making things happen absolutely on time is essential.

Data alchemist – you will need to distill actionable insights from what multiple sources of data are telling you.

Learner Mindset – Role model curiosity and reflection; encourage people to learn from mistakes and successes.

Maximize performance – Integrate and collaborate across boundaries to maximize commercial value for Shel as a whole.

Create the environment for others to feel empowered to deliver high performance through clarity on intent, priorities and outcomes.
