The facilities and water team is looking for a senior water engineer to join their team. Based in The Woodlands office, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to support the facilities and water team efforts in the Anadarko Operating Areas.
Reporting to the manager, facilities and water, this challenging opportunity provides a dynamic and continually evolving role that frequently interacts with the field operations team, asset development team, senior management team, and technical staff across the organization.
This position requires a candidate who has strong interpersonal and analytical skills combined with a positive, self-starting attitude. Other key skills are self-motivation, strong organizational nature, great communication
(written/verbal), teamwork, and ability to efficiently prioritize.
Approach each component of the water engineering role from a business perspective.Be familiar with economic analysis and use this in tandem with engineering analysis.Champion frac water sourcing and delivery to frac sites.Use the frac and development schedules to set priorities for work and continually stay ahead in water delivery and take-away.Design and installation of water pipelines, saltwater disposal facilities, water recycle facilities, water pits and other required infrastructure to support the water handling and management.Monitor compliance of all terms and obligations on the part of Ovintiv in any construction, operating, processing, and gathering agreements which Ovintiv might sign with third party companies.Work with PipeSim, ProMax, or similar process simulation programs to support design projects, troubleshoot issues, and identify other process evaluation needs.Develop a PFD, P&ID, Plot Plan, Equipment Arrangement Diagrams, MTO, BOM, etc. to support the design and construction process.Good understanding of the functionality and operation of the water infrastructures.Work with field personnel to identify optimization projects that would serve to increase production or decrease operating expenses.End-to-end project management, including, but not limited to, economics, scheduling, design, vendor negotiations, vendor selection.Provide coordination and serve as liaison between asset teams, operations, materials management, legal, production accounting, accounting, and marketing to insure proper project management and implementation.Track actual project costs and monitor expenditures for all Authorizations for Expenditures and report any variances.Mentorship of engineers in upstream facilities engineering processes.Respond to operations’ requests to troubleshoot and correct problems with existing facilities (retrofit projects), fluid transport systems, etc.Stay abreast of industry developments within technical area of responsibility as well as innovations.Develop project cost estimates, project budgets, long term plans, and forecasts with necessary supporting data including development scenarios, schedules, etc.May require oversight responsibilities of contract workers and Encana employees.Mentor younger engineers.
Minimum of a B.S. in chemical, mechanical, petroleum or related engineering degree.Ten or more years of experience in oil and gas required – onshore experience preferred.Demonstrates Ovintiv’s culture of safety and environmental stewardship.Ability to utilize tools such as MS office, Spotfire and Powe BI.Understand process piping standards and specifications, materials selection, and metallurgical requirements.Experience with pipeline hydraulic modeling such as Pipesim would be preferred.Experience with writing and administering contracts for services, construction, and equipment.Understand Lease Operating Expenditure and capital budgeting process and impacts on cash flow.Good cross-functional interpersonal skills (important in working with operations engineers, asset team members, marketing, land, legal, field superintendents, etc.).Strong team building skills.Ability to communicate effectively across all functions in the organization.Ability to travel approximately 20%.Proactive analytical skills with attention to detail and process improvement.Project management experience.Familiarity with planning and tracking tools such as MS Project would be helpful, but not required.Demonstrated track record of technical excellence.Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment.Drives continuous improvement.
In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv’s reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $165,000- $230,000 USD
Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
