Ovintiv is seeking an experienced senior land negotiator to assist with deal making and strategic management in the Rockies or Anadarko operating area. This position will give the senior land negotiator an opportunity to showcase creativity, entrepreneurship and test their land skills in a multi-disciplined environment while pursuing a variety of professional development opportunities and high-profile projects. Individual should exhibit action-oriented behavior with strong analytical and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

This position will be based in The Woodlands, TX.


Obtain necessary regulatory orders, analyze, negotiate, prepare and/or review agreements including leases, farm outs, term assignments, drafting of land contracts and operating agreements required for drilling wells to evaluate and/or develop acreage managed by asset teams.Obtain the necessary title examination, title curative and issue final title approval for the release of wells for drilling.Initiate contact and pursue negotiations with 3rd parties for potential trades, acquisitions and divestitures.Analyze risk and uncertainty when evaluating proposals and to consistently utilize economic analyses to prioritize work and aid decision making.Participate in team strategy decisions and make strategic recommendations for asset land holdings.


Ten or more years of land negotiation experience, preferably with an E&P Industry Company.Excellent project management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a team environment.Self-starter with ability to excel with minimal supervision and with strong motivation to succeed.Strong negotiation and conflict management skills with successful track record of closing deals in a timely manner and delivering deal terms that meet cost targets and operational needs.Strategic and proactive problem solver.Ability to develop good working relationships with other operators in the Anadarko Basin.Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Quorum Land Suite; Microsoft PowerBI and TIBCO Spotfire experience a plus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills accompanied by attitude to openly share information with team members.Strong business skills and ability to evaluate opportunities, make recommendations to management and follow through on team decisions.Active member of AAPL in good standing.Working knowledge of oil and gas law, real property law and regulatory issues in Oklahoma.Bachelor’s degree in business, energy management or similar educational background preferred but not required.

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv’s reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $140,000 – $200,000 USD

Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
